Since 2008, this blog has been digging through old newspapers, county histories, family photos, and community memories to piece together the stories of the people, businesses, churches, and events that shaped Rich Hill — from its coal-mining boom years to the present day. When the Mid-Continent Plant Burned

A SOLITARY MAN walks along the worn sidewalk on the main street in Rich Hill, Mo. The town appeared virtually deserted yesterday. A 300,000 fire destroyed Rich Hill's only industry, a storm door and window manufacturing plant.
