I'...Thanks for sharing this good article, Bart. I'm sure our family was there for the celebration. Fourth of July was always spent in Rich Hill. Us kids were always so excited and couldn't wait to shoot firecrackers and go to the parade and ride the rides. For so many years, the carnival was provided by Evans Empire Shows. I remember how families spread blankets out on the ground in the West Park, and made campsites of sorts, to eat their picnic meals. Many people spent the whole day in the park and visited with friends and family members they only got to see on the 4th of July. It was a sad time when we had to get in the car, after the fireworks were over, and join the long line of cars leaving Rich Hill. We lived in Papinsville and the ride home was spent talking about how much fun we'd had, but also being very tired. This is still my favorite holiday of the year.<br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
